Two to four thousand people are going to walk through the gates at Bulldog Stadium on Friday night, and every single one of them is getting handed a small card with a question on it. Not a name. Just a number. Who is number eighty-nine? You scan the code on the back to find out. That's it. That's the whole campaign. A card, a question, and a crowd that can't help itself.

Welcome to Batavia This Week, the Business Builder edition.

Here's the thread I keep pulling on this week. Nearly everything worth going to in Batavia over the next seven days is something that happens again. A Monday dinner. A Tuesday morning meeting. A Tuesday night card game. The magic isn't the event. It's the repetition. If you run something here, that's the lesson sitting in plain sight.

Start Monday. The Batavia Moose Lodge number six eighty-two does Comfort Food Monday at five in the evening at fifteen thirty-five South Batavia Avenue. The Lodge has been gathering neighbors around shared tables since nineteen eleven, and they fund scholarships and community work out of it. Monday is the deadest night in most restaurants in America. They filled it with a name and a routine. Go sit down, eat, and count how many people walk in and get greeted by name. That's the number you want in your own place.

Tuesday morning at eight, the Batavia Rotary Club meets at Apple Villa on West Wilson. The speaker is Patti Lackman, on memories of September eleventh. If you've never gone to a Rotary meeting because you assumed it was a sales pitch, you have it backwards. This is the group that delivers meals, awards grants, and tends pollinator gardens, and they're in that room at eight in the morning every Tuesday. It is the highest concentration of people who actually get things done in this town, per square foot, all week. Go once as a guest. Say what you do in one sentence and then ask everyone else what they need.

Tuesday night gives you two very different studies in building a habit. Grognard Games runs Batavia Nexus Night at thirteen seventy-five Wind Energy Pass, five dollars to play the Riftbound card game. There's also a one versus one best of one tournament format at ten dollars. Look at what that price does. Five dollars isn't revenue. Five dollars is a reason to come back weekly, and weekly is how a retailer turns a hobby into a customer base. Tabletop shops figured out community programming before the rest of us did.

Then at six in the evening, the Sidecar Supper Club and Beer Garden at twelve North River Street has its Musician Spotlight. Carissa May, performing as The Pretty Hippie, plays solo acoustic across classic rock, country, pop, reggae and originals. Half-price hand-ground burgers and two dollars off draft beers. This one runs Tuesdays from May through September, so you're near the end of the season. Bring a client downtown for a burger. It's an easy, low-stakes place to have a real conversation.

Thursday at eleven in the morning, Covenant Living at the Holmstad hosts a Discovery Luncheon at seven hundred West Fabyan Parkway. Thirty-eight wooded acres, a full continuum of care from independent living through skilled nursing. If your customers are older adults or the adult children making decisions for them, this is the room where you learn how those decisions actually get made. Financial advisors, home services, realtors, healthcare, take note.

Friday at two in the afternoon, the Elderday Center on West Wilson Street holds an open house during their Mum Sale, with live entertainment. It's free. Elderday runs structured days for seniors living with dementia, with memory care, exercise, nutrition and caregiver support under registered nurse oversight. Buy mums for your storefront. Then ask them what they need this fall, because nonprofits like this are the best referral partners a small business ever gets, and almost nobody asks.

And then Friday night. Batavia High School varsity football hosts Lake Park at Bulldog Stadium, sophomores at four thirty, varsity kickoff at seven. It's Difference Maker Night. Every person through the gate gets a free trading card, handed out by students. Card three of a ten-card set, and right now it's the only one that exists. It doesn't tell you who number eighty-nine is. You scan it. Come early, get the card, and try to guess before the person next to you does. The program site carries the schedule and the sponsor tiers, if a few thousand neighbors in one place sounds like your market.

Go be a regular somewhere this week. Full list is at bataviail.co. This has been Batavia This Week.
